The road traffic surveillance network is a wireless access network dedicated to traffic information. It is based on beacons communicating by radio over licence free bands.

These beacons are placed at the top of poles. Depending on the application these beacons can have different functions. These beacons have very low power consumptions and can be fed by small solar panels.
